My family of four has visited Disneyland many times, and on every trip we eat gluten-free. In short: Disneyland does gluten-free dining better than most theme parks. You won’t be left with only salads or empty-handed options.
Across Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure we enjoyed tacos, grilled cheese, burgers, waffle fries, pizza, Dole Whip, and gluten-free cookies. Many items were genuinely excellent, and staff consistently prepared meals with care.
This guide lists the restaurants and snacks where we found solid gluten-free options, organized by land for easy planning. Where we ate, I include details about preparation and what to expect. I also cover mobile ordering, items to avoid, and safety tips for preventing cross-contact.

How Disneyland Handles Gluten-Free Dining
Disneyland labels many dishes “gluten/wheat allergy-friendly,” a category that covers celiac disease, wheat allergies, and gluten intolerance. The parks do not operate separate allergy-only kitchens; most food is prepared in shared spaces. Cast members follow allergy protocols—changing gloves, using clean prep areas, and often frying allergy orders in a dedicated fryer—but Disney does not and cannot guarantee any item is entirely free from allergens.
When you order allergy-friendly food, look for a visual marker (a pick or flag) that indicates the kitchen prepared it as requested. If you don’t see that marker, ask the cast member to confirm before eating. For guests with celiac disease, request a chef consult at table-service restaurants so the chef can explain preparation and minimize cross-contact. At quick-service locations, the app’s allergy-friendly mobile ordering system helps reduce errors.
Disney has been recognized for its allergy practices, and in our experience cast members were professional and attentive to allergy requests.
How to Order Gluten-Free Food at Disneyland
The Disneyland app is central to gluten-free ordering. Most quick-service restaurants use mobile ordering; open a restaurant menu in the app and tap the “Allergy-Friendly” icon, then select “Gluten/Wheat” to filter the choices. You can include non-GF items in the same order, and allergy items arrive on a separate tray with the allergy marker.
For table-service restaurants, add your dietary needs when you book through the app or by phone, and remind your server when you arrive. Request a chef consult if needed. For complex or medically restrictive diets—four or more allergy requests, pureed meals, or similar—email the Special Diets team at [email protected] at least 14 days before your visit to coordinate with restaurants.
If you prefer printed information, City Hall on Main Street, U.S.A. offers a packet listing allergy-friendly options; the app has largely replaced it, but the packet can still be useful on your first trip.

Gluten-Free Disneyland Restaurants by Land
Below are the restaurants where we found meaningful gluten-free choices, grouped by land. Menus can change, so verify options in the Disneyland app or with a cast member before ordering.
Main Street, U.S.A.
Carnation Cafe
Comfort food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with an allergy-friendly menu available on request. We haven’t eaten here yet but it’s on our list—cast members can point out allergy-friendly items and kid options.
Refreshment Corner
This classic corner cafe lists gluten/wheat allergy-friendly items such as hot dog baskets, chili, and a chocolate chip cookie. They also offer choices for other common allergens—helpful when you’re coordinating multiple dietary needs.

Main Street U.S.A. Fruit Cart
Fruit carts are a reliable source of fresh pineapple, watermelon, apples, and other quick gluten-free snacks. Market carts across both parks carry similar items, and open snack carts sell ice cream bars and frozen bananas. Always check labels on packaged snacks, as ingredients can change.

Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe
One of our favorite quick-service meals: gluten-free grilled cheese with tomato basil soup. Disney uses Udi’s gluten-free buns, which held up well and were toasted properly. Each sandwich often comes with a GF chocolate chip cookie. The kitchen prepared our order in a separate area; if you try only one quick-service spot, make it this one.
The allergy-friendly menu usually includes GF breakfast combos, grilled cheese, turkey sandwiches, muffins, and cookies—check the app for current items.
Adventureland

Tiki Juice Bar
Dole Whip is naturally gluten-free and an essential Disneyland snack. Flavors vary—Dole Whip Floats are also gluten-free. Expect a line, but it’s worth the wait.
New Orleans Square
Blue Bayou Restaurant
Blue Bayou offers an atmospheric sit-down experience with an allergy-friendly menu. Many gluten-free visitors praise the Monte Cristo prepared safely for allergy diners—ask the server or request a chef consult to confirm preparation details.
Cafe Orleans
Cafe Orleans can also accommodate gluten-free Monte Cristo requests and other allergy needs. As with any table service, request a chef consult if you have celiac disease.

This waterfront spot lists allergy-friendly options; speak to a cast member at ordering to confirm current choices. Past offerings have included fresh fruit and POWER Packs.

Alien Pizza Planet
Gluten-free pizzas are available here—cheese and pepperoni were listed on past allergy menus—along with salads.

Gluten-Free Disneyland Park Snacks
Finding gluten-free snacks across both parks is straightforward. Snack stands typically carry fresh fruit, chips, and ice cream bars. The candy and gift shops often stock packaged GF treats like Enjoy Life chocolate.
Common gluten-free snack choices include:
- Popcorn (cart locations throughout both parks)
- Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars
- Frozen chocolate-covered bananas
- Fresh fruit from market carts
- Outshine fruit bars
- Cotton candy
- Dole Whip
- Packaged Enjoy Life cookies and chocolate in gift shops

Bringing your own snacks is allowed (no glass or alcohol) and can save money and stress. Travel-friendly options include nuts, individual nut butter packets, dried fruit, and gluten-free granola bars—handy if a line is long or wait times grow.

Lemonade carts and other refreshment stands offer flavored and plain lemonades that are typically gluten-free. Locations include spots near classic attractions and promenades—check the app or a cast member for exact stands and current offerings.
What to Avoid (Items That Look Gluten-Free but Are Not)
Some items may seem safe but are not. Watch out for:
- Rice Krispie Mickey Treats: Contain barley malt and are not gluten-free. Look for safer packaged marshmallow bars instead.
- Blue Milk and Green Milk (Galaxy’s Edge): Contain oats that are not certified gluten-free.
- Bengal Barbecue: Sauces contain gluten and the grill has cross-contact risk—avoid for celiac disease.
- Bakery-case macaroons: High cross-contact risk from shared prep areas.
- Standard churros: Made with wheat flour—check the app for occasional GF churro availability before assuming they’re safe.
- Mickey Ice Cream Sandwiches: Wafers contain gluten; opt for Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars instead.
When in doubt, consult the Disneyland app’s allergy menu for a location or ask a cast member to verify ingredients and preparation.
Gluten-Free Food at Disney California Adventure

Disney California Adventure offers excellent gluten-free choices. Smokejumpers Grill served one of our best meals—gluten-free burgers on Udi’s buns with waffle fries cooked in a separate fryer. Allergy orders were clearly marked and prepared in a separate area; wait times were a bit longer, but the results were worth it.
Pym Test Kitchen in Avengers Campus lists allergy-friendly items in the app, and Pixar Pier offers pre-packaged gluten-free cookies and the Pixar Pier Parfait—lemon soft serve with fruit swirls—which was a refreshing treat.
Character Dining for Gluten-Free Families
Character dining at Disneyland Resort hotels, such as Goofy’s Kitchen and Storyteller’s Cafe, can accommodate gluten-free diners. At buffet-style character meals request a chef consult so the chef can direct you to safe options or prepare food from the kitchen to avoid cross-contact. Gluten-free Mickey waffles are often available—call ahead or ask on arrival to confirm.
Tips for Eating Gluten-Free at Disneyland
Download the Disneyland app before you go. Use it to view allergy-friendly menus, place mobile orders, make reservations, and check wait times. It’s the most useful tool for GF dining in the parks.
Make reservations early for table service. Note gluten-free needs when booking so kitchens have time to prepare.
Always tell your server about allergies. Confirm allergy requests at pickup, and look for the allergy pick or flag on trays.
Request a chef consult for sit-down meals. Chefs can explain ingredients and preparation and can offer alternatives for guests with celiac disease.
Ask about fryers. Some locations use dedicated fryers for allergy orders; others do not. Ask before ordering fried items.
Pack backup snacks. Outside food is allowed (no glass or alcohol). Bringing snacks saves money and provides safe options during long lines.
Use a food allergy card. Carrying a card that lists your restrictions can help communicate quickly with cast members, especially for multiple allergies or language barriers.
Understand labels. “Gluten-friendly” usually means made without gluten ingredients but may have cross-contact risk. For celiac disease, always ask about preparation methods.
Disclaimer
Before ordering, speak with a chef or a Special Diets–trained cast member. Menus, ingredients, and locations change. Verify the suitability of any dish for your medical needs—your safety is the priority. Disney’s official policy requires guests to speak to a cast member about allergy requests and notes that they cannot guarantee items are completely free of allergens.
