Keto Instant Pot Bacon Mushroom Green Beans is a quick, flavorful side dish that fits keto, low-carb, and paleo menus. Made in the Instant Pot, this recipe produces tender, bright green beans that pair beautifully with savory bacon and earthy mushrooms.

My family loves this Instant Pot version—it’s become our go-to side and the easiest way to get everyone to enjoy green beans. The Instant Pot steams the beans quickly so they stay crisp-tender, retaining a vibrant color rather than turning limp or dull.
I grew up in the 1970s and, like many kids of that era, I wasn’t keen on green beans—mostly because they were often served from a can. Even though we grew beans in our garden, we canned them so they would last through the seasons, and the texture and color never appealed to me. Years later I discovered steamed green beans with butter and a little garlic, and my opinion changed completely. From there I explored dishes like green beans almondine and other preparations, but the bacon‑and‑mushroom version remains my favorite.
This Instant Pot method is fast, hands‑off, and ideal for weeknights or when you want a simple but satisfying vegetable side for a holiday table.

Common questions & answers about Keto Instant Pot Bacon Mushroom Green Beans
Can I make this without bacon?
Yes. If you avoid pork, try beef bacon or another savory substitute such as smoked turkey bacon or a plant-based bacon alternative—adjust cooking time as needed.
Can I use French green beans?
Absolutely. French (haricot vert) beans work well and simply cook a touch faster, so watch texture closely.
Can I use more garlic?
You can increase to two cloves if you like, but remember that more garlic will slightly raise the carb count.
What are coconut aminos?
Coconut aminos are a soy-free, grain-free seasoning sauce that many paleo and soy-free cooks use as an alternative to soy sauce.
What is tamari sauce?
Tamari is a darker, richer, typically wheat-free version of soy sauce that works well as a substitute if you prefer.

Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh green beans, cleaned and trimmed
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 ½ cups sliced mushrooms
- 2 teaspoons coconut aminos or tamari sauce
- ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
Instructions
- Place the green beans directly into the inner pot of the Instant Pot. Add enough water to just cover the beans.
- Close and lock the lid and set the valve to Sealing. Select Steam on high pressure for 2 minutes.

- Open the lid, remove the green beans, drain, and set aside. Dump the remaining water from the inner pot and wipe it dry, then return the pot to the unit.
- Select Sauté on High. Add the chopped bacon and cook until it begins to crisp slightly.
- Add the butter, minced garlic, and sliced mushrooms. Sauté about 2 minutes until the mushrooms soften and begin to shrink.
- Stir in the coconut aminos or tamari and cook for about a minute, allowing the mushrooms to absorb the sauce.
- Add the cooked green beans and toss to coat them with the mushroom and bacon mixture for about a minute.
